HERE'S WHAT'S HAPPENING IN OUR COMMUNITY!

How to make the time to workout

We all know the benefits of exercise, we know that sweating regularly & keeping active should be one of our top priorities in life. When we take care of ourselves we stand a far better chance of being the kind of person we strive to be on the job, at home with our loved ones, and in our communities. We know that to be successful in the gym we must be consistent, however making time for exercise isn’t always easy. Here are our four tips for how to fit exercise into your daily routine – no matter how busy you are.
Plan Your Day
Create a daily schedule for yourself and stick to it. Give yourself extra time to do things, we have all been culprits of sitting down for five minutes and it turning into half an hour and before you know it you’ve talked yourself out of going to work out. Be pro-active. The truth is that when we really need to, we make time, we get out of the office at the time that is necessary. Make it is easy for yourself and create a schedule, stick to it, and remind yourself that working out is a priority worth keeping.
Choose Something Over Nothing
Some days you just won’t feel like it. And that is ok. Recovery is just as important for your body as working out. Not every day has to be about going as hard as possible in the gym, use your fitness & get outside, go on a walk or run and let your body move.
Track Your Activity Levels
“If you don’t measure it, it doesn’t exist”. It’s a slight exaggeration, yes, but this old saying really has some truth to it, especially when it comes to exercise. Make a note in your calendar every time you work out, and add up your workout sessions at the end of each week, month, and year so you can monitor your progress and identify areas for improvement. Measuring your activity levels (and ideally keeping notes on your progress) can help you to stay on track and realise when you’re slipping before you’ve completely lost the habit. This is why we are big fan’s of using the workout tracking feature on SugarWOD!
Say ‘YES’
When trying to motivate ourselves to exercise on a regular basis, competition has its merits. Today, it’s possible to find a competition suitable to your skill level whether you’re elite, beginner, or somewhere in between. Say yes. Sign up. Set a goal, and notice what it does to you. Odds are it will be the push you need to keep yourself in the game.
Work Out Efficiently
Pick a workout that you can do almost anywhere, whether you’re away travelling, leaving for the office early or getting home from the office late. Ideally, this will be a form of exercise that doesn’t require much preparation and that accomplishes significant physical gains in a short period of time. High-intensity interval training, Tabata training, bodyweight exercises, and running are all great choices.
